Welcome to the first post in my new blog series, Four Favorites — where I share the tried-and-true essentials that make my life easier, more comfortable, and (let’s be honest) a little more fun around the barn. Whether you’re in the muck every morning or just love a good pair of paddock boots, these are four items I can’t live without when I’m spending the day at home in the barn.

I know what you’re thinking: “Hair moisturizer… for horses?” YES. And let me tell you, it is a total game-changer. I use this on coats almost daily. It keeps hair soft and shiny, and it smells amazing. Pro tips? Don’t use it on manes and tails! I keep one bottle in the tack room and one in the grooming tote that way I’m never without it. It’s that essential. You can never have too much of a good thing, especially when you’re on the go and multitasking around the barn.
2. Purina Outlast® Horse Treats
These treats are not only a hit with my horses, but they also contain Purina’s Outlast® gastric support supplement, which is a win-win. They’re perfect for training sessions, a little love after turnout, or just because. And let’s be honest, we all love a treat that does more than just taste good.

These are hands-down the best all-around barn boots I’ve owned. They’re lightweight, breathable (hello, VentTEK!), and comfortable enough to wear all day long. From mucking stalls to riding, they hold up through it all. I’ve had at least one pair of these boots for probably twenty years. I’ve tried other paddock type boots, but I keep going back to these! They come in a variety of colors and slightly different styles, too, so there will definitely be one to suit you!

4. MUCK Boot Women’s Muckster 2
When it comes to waterproof, slip-on convenience, these are the MVPs. I wear them for quick feedings, rainy-day chores, and early morning turnouts. They slip on easy, rinse off fast, and keep my feet dry without overheating. A must-have for any season. These are another type of boot that I’ve had for decades because there’s just no better option out there!
